What will it look like?
It is hard to predict but sometimes you can tell what it is going to look like — almost. It is different every time and that is the fun of rusting — the surprises that you get.

An experiment
It came time to re-rust some of our objects so we separated them into 3 categories: one to spray with water only, one with 1/2 water and vinegar and one with full-strength vinegar. We sprayed them twice a week. The full strength vinegar won and we are bringing them “back to life again”. I think being buried under the snow for the winter would also work. LOL

Which comes first?
This fabric was dyed first and then, rusted. We are going to dye one that was rusted first and see if there is a difference. I can see sea creatures in this one — especially, fish at the top.

Rusting in collage
Isn’t this an interesting and intriguing piece by collage artist Sheila Babbie?
